Playwright/Poet/PIRATE

I believe catharsis is the heart of the theatrical experience. It’s why we still gather around the fire to tell each other stories: some things can only be felt together. It is the dramatist’s job to revive and reinterpret the mythologies that express our humanity and bind us to one another. A myth retold for a changed world becomes a shared ritual again. Theatre should be theatrical. It should never hesitate to bare its teeth. Great plays don’t pull punches; they’re surrounded by a pending sense of danger, the feeling that something irreversible could happen before the night is over. That danger is what gives release. I write toward the fire, and I write with teeth.
